Lesson Policy

Enrollment – All students must have a brief interview before enrolling in a class. If the person has had previous instruction, they will be given a review of fundamentals and will demonstrate their technical skill so that they may be placed at the appropriate level.

Lessons – For ages 7 and up, private lessons can be 30 minutes ($35), 45 minutes ($60), or 60 minutes ($70) in length. Lessons happen weekly but bi-weekly lessons can also be arranged if desired (although it is not encouraged).

Curriculum – I will tailor-make an individualized curriculum for you based on your personal goals, skill set, and desired discipline. Lessons may include: foundational skills in your respective instrument, reading and sight reading, theory (basic and advanced), improvisation, audition prep, composition, production, music business, and any other topics you wish to cover.

Tuition – Tuition is payable by the month at registration or lesson by lesson (whichever is preferred). Currently, billing is run through Venmo. Invoices will be emailed either monthly or weekly depending on your tuition payment arrangement. A $20.00 late fee will be added to accounts not received within 48 hours of the lesson (if paying per lesson) or 48 hours after the 1st of the month (if paying monthly).

Cancellation/No Show – Whether meeting via Zoom or in person, you will be billed for your lesson tuition in full if you do not show up to your lesson.

If you need to cancel your lesson for any reason, a minimum of 48 hours notice is required.

Anything less than 48 hours, you will be charged in full for your lesson. If it is a true emergency, please contact me and we will work something out.

Make-Up Lessons – If given ample notice of a scheduled absence, I will work with you to try to find a make-up time. Each student will be given the opportunity to request up to two makeup lessons over the course of three months. If both makeup lessons are used within a three month period, full tuition must be paid for any additional missed lesson. If requests for makeup lessons becomes a frequent occurrence, we can work to find a time that is more suitable to your schedule.

Termination of Lessons – One month advance notification is required before termination and should be submitted in writing. If a student stops attending lessons during a month, you are responsible for payment until the end of the month. Students are to call/text/email if they are going to miss a lesson. Three absences in a row without prior notification may result in the student being asked to give up their space to someone who can attend more regularly.

Referral Program – I am always looking to expand my studio. If you refer a new student to my studio and they sign up and register for a minimum of a month’s worth of lessons, you will get one free lesson.
